Millenial motivation

Much has been written and said about millenials. Here are some good ideas from Eric Holtzclaw on “millenial” motivation.

  1. They want to understand the larger goal
  2. They thrive on new experiences
  3. They look to peers for support
  4. They like immediate awards

Millenials may not be as different as you think. It, like focusing on customers, requires you look at the job from their perspective.

Millennials don’t readily accept doing tasks just because “I said so.” They want to understand why they should do something–the overall objective, goal, or purpose. And they want to wrap their heads around how the work that we do as a company impacts our customers. To keep millenials engaged, take time to explain the purpose, and cause and effect of how their role is important.
