Consider this: This is important. We all need to get it deep in our hearts and soul. Our work is designed to bring glory to God. It is not to earn money. It is not to help others. It should be strictly to bring glory to God.
- Is that our focus?
- Do we get it?
- If not, what are we going to do about it?
What is the glory of God? Many books have been written about the glory of God. In its simplest form, it is all about God and nothing to do with us. It is God’s brilliance and beauty. It is from the Greek word δόξα doxa — Meaning: glory, honor, renown; an especially divine quality, the unspoken manifestation of God. It speaks of the splendor, stunning, beauty, brilliance, and amazing character of God. A simple Translation is: stunning brilliance and beauty.
God’s goal: The goal is to bring glory to God. Do our colleagues see that in us? Is everything we are doing about God and His will? May we focus on God and His glory at work.
- Colossians 3:17 (CSB) — 17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
- 1 Corinthians 10:31 (CSB) — 31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
- Ephesians 6:5–8 (CSB) — 5 Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as you would Christ. 6 Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, do God’s will from your heart. 7 Serve with a good attitude, as to the Master and not to people, 8 knowing that whatever good each one does, slave or free, he will receive this back from the Master.
Good reminder: “Our work is designed to bring glory to God. It is not to earn money. It is not to help others. It should be strictly to bring glory to God.”
